A Quick Bedtime Snack

When people ask me what type of supplements they should take during a joint-related injury, I have several suggestions such as proteolytic enzymes, hyaluronic acid, and bamboo silica to name a few, but the one secret weapon that I often recommend is gelatin. If you’re injured, take gelatin twice a day: first thing in the morning and before going to bed.

To help you prevent a joint-related injury especially as you age, take gelatin at least once a day. You can do it first thing in the morning by adding some hot water to gelatin (use a few drops of stevia for flavour). You can do it directly after training by adding collagen peptides to your post-workout shake. Or you can do it at night with this simple 3-step process:

Step 1: Add a scoop of gelatin.

Vital Proteins Pasture-Raised Beef Gelatin is one of the best products on the market. It’s the one that I recommend to my clients.

Step 2: Add some yogurt.

Choose a plain/unsweetened, full-fat, certified organic, Greek-style yogurt (three excellent brands are Nancy’s, Straus Family Creamery and Wallaby Organic), or try yogurt made from sheep or goat milk if you’re lactose intolerant. Yoso unsweetened coconut yogurt is another option.

Step 3: Mix and enjoy!

Mix the gelatin and yogurt in a small bowl and enjoy before bed. If you wish, you can add a scoop of Well Wisdom Vital Whey to up the protein content and some organic berries for flavour, fiber and antioxidants.
