Update Your iPhone iOS and Sleep Better

Bright blue light is great during the day, but not so great at night. Orange glasses can help block out the blue light to help you fall asleep better. There’s software like f.lux that will do the same effect to your computer screen, and now the latest iPhone iOS 9.3 update has a feature that will do it as well.

Here’s how you can activate the Night Shift feature on your iPhone:

  1. Go to Display & Brightness under Settings and turn on Night Shift.
  2. Set the Schedule for Sunset to Sunrise.

You can adjust the warmth of the color temperature to your liking, but that’s all it takes. The display turns warm at night and like sunlight during the day.

Remember, exposure to blue light in the evening can affect your circadian rhythms and make it difficult to fall asleep. Night Shift can determine when it’s sunset in your location and then automatically shift the colors in your display to the warmer end of the spectrum. In the morning, the display returns back to normal.

Think of the Night Shift feature as a way to put orange glasses over your phone rather than your eyes!
