A Potent Sleep Elixir

Many people suffer from sleep-onset insomnia. It can be very frustrating when you want to sleep and it just won’t happen. To help you doze off into slumberland, you can try supplements like magnesium or phosphatidylserine, an Epsom salt bath, reading and journaling (with orange glasses on, of course), mind distraction activities, and/or various relaxation techniques.

Chamomile tea can also help you sleep. It has the ability to relax nerves and muscles and act like a mild sedative. Another sleep-inducing tea is Yogi Soothing Caramel Bedtime Tea. Tim Ferriss, author of The 4-Hour Workweek, mentioned this tea in a podcast once and I have to tell you, it works!

Here’s another option that can be quite effective: before bed, take 3 grams of ashwagandha with a cup of warm milk and honey. If all goes well, it should put you into a very sound sleep in no time.

I picked up this tip from strength coach Charles Poliquin way back at a weekend course in November of 2000. Poliquin mentioned it during the Saturday session and one of the attendees decided to try it that night. He strolled in the next day at lunchtime after sleeping through the entire morning session!
